Photoshop, digital imaging in general
Ok so I am pretty much completely new to Photoshop, and to digital imaging in general, I
know what I want to do and I know it's possible with layers but I just can't figure it
out. Heres what I want, I do a lot of B&W photography, that is I desaturate the shots
in PS, what I really want to do is to desaturate the image, then blend the B&W image
with the color one, with the result being a black and white image with a beautiful golden
sunset as background, so basically taking two copies of the image, one B&W and one
color then blending them together to get the color sky background in the B&W image. If
anyone knows where I can find a step by step tutorial or something on this I would greatly
appreciate it.

There are many diff ways of doing this in Photoshop.
Make the B&W the top layer and the color version right under it.
Now with the B&W layer active in the layers pallette window click on the little icon
on the bottom edge of the layers window, second from the left. It should be a square with
a circle in it. This adds a mask to the B&W layer.
