Picasa is a good program for beginners
Picasa 1.5.1 is a delightfully easy-to-use and inexpensive program that seems to have been
developed for beginners who want to manage a limited set of digital photographs.
Intermediate users and people with many photographs (that is the point of using an image
manager, isn't it?) may quickly outgrow the program due to Picasa's limited metadata
handling capabilities, which hurts the program in two ways..
[Picture metadata (data about pictures) are the stuff that allows one to preserve
information such as the original date and time of a picture, as well as caption text (so
one can recall everyone in a picture or the context of the picture, ten or twenty years
later), inside the picture itself.]
Picasa is a good program for beginners, with potential to become a great program for
everyone else in future releases.
The best RAW editor
Could you please tell me which is the best RAW editor (freeware or shareware). Is it ACR
or RAWShooter or Capture One or some other?
Thanks in advance.
re:
I started off using Digital Photo Professional which was supplied with the camera, it
worked ok and I was happy with it.
I'm now testing out Capture One, it seems to offer slightly more control but I don't think
its a massive improvement over DPP.
There really is no "best" just like there is no best camera. Try a few out (the
non-free ones all have a free trial) and see which one YOU like best.
I'll add Bibble to your list as I know many people who prefer it to C1, but i've not tried
it myself yet.
