black and white photo by image editor
Anybody have any experience (good or bad) with the mpix "true black and
white" paper and processing?
RE:
I've ordered the "true B&W" from them before and any problems with the
B&W were mine and not theres, I was very happy with the B&W order I received from
them.

The best photo-editing software
The best photo-editing software reviews can be found in the pages and Web sites of PC
World, Smart Computing, CNet.com and PC Magazine. We also found a timely, but less
authoritative photo-editing software review on a Web site called TopTenReviews.com.
Consumer Reports reviewed several titles earlier this year, but this article doesn't cover
the latest versions. We also found some good information from About.com's Sue Chastain.
Comments from owners posted on Amazon.com and Epinions are also helpful, especially when
it comes to judging ease-of-use.
A major advantage of digital photography is manipulation -- the ability to crop,
color-correct and otherwise fiddle with the image on a computer. While digital cameras
used to ship with photo-editing software, most cameras these days come with only the most
basic transfer software. So if you want to optimize color, contrast and brightness, or
resize and manipulate images, you'll need to supply your own software.
With so many photo editors on the market today, it would be easy to believe that any
software would work for run-of-the-mill tasks. Reviews indicate that's not quite true. We
saw mixed reviews for Roxio PhotoSuite Platinum 7 (*est. $30). Editors at Smart Computing
magazine like this photo editor for its user-friendliness. Users select tabs from the
program's home page to get started. But at CNet.com, editors say these tabs are part of
the problem with PhotoSuite; tasks are not where you'd expect them to be. Testers had to
resort to the help section repeatedly to perform seemingly simple tasks like e-mailing a
photo. At Amazon.com, PhotoSuite gets an average of only one star from owners -- the
lowest scores among photo-editing software reviews. In CNet's review, editors conclude
that free photo-editing software is better than Roxio PhotoSuite. (See our section below
on free photo editors.)
Version 2.2.12 of the GNU Image Manipulation Program is now
available
Version 2.2.12 of the GNU Image Manipulation Program is now available. This is a bug-fix
release in the stable 2.2 series. Please see the NEWS file for a detailed list of changes.
The source code can be retrieved from ftp.gimp.org and its mirrors. Binary packages for
the various supported platforms will become available soon.
This release fixes a security hole in the XCF parser. An update is strongly recommended.
